Volunteering
What to Expect:
Join us for a fun day outdoors making a real difference. Volunteers work together to harvest fresh fruit from neighborhood trees that might otherwise go to waste. Our team will guide you every step of the way, no experience needed! Most harvests last 1–3 hours and are a great way to meet people, enjoy nature, and help provide healthy food for the community.
Standards for Harvesting:
We harvest with care and respect for both the trees and the fruit they provide. Volunteers are asked to pick gently, choose ripe fruit, and follow guidance from our team leaders so we can keep the trees healthy and share the best fruit with those who need it.
What do I wear?
Dress comfortably for the outdoors and be ready to move around a bit. Closed-toe shoes are important, and we recommend wearing sun protection like a hat or sunscreen. Bring a water bottle and dress for the weather, we’ll provide the harvesting tools!

Our Story
At Harvesting Hope Central California, we believe that everyone—and everything—deserves a second chance. Rooted in the heart of Central California’s abundant agricultural region, our mission is to create a more just, sustainable, and compassionate food supply by tackling food waste, supporting rehabilitation, and strengthening community.
We do this by employing and empowering individuals from secular rehabilitation programs—people who are rebuilding their lives after incarceration, addiction, or hardship—offering them meaningful, dignified work in the harvest of excess fruit from residential and commercial trees. Each pound of fruit we rescue helps combat food insecurity, reduces environmental waste, and provides nourishing produce to local food banks, shelters, and families in need.
Our work sits at the intersection of environmental stewardship, restorative employment, and community care. By reconnecting people with purpose and reconnecting food with those who need it most, Harvesting Hope transforms overlooked abundance into shared opportunity—and builds a future where hope grows on every branch.
